a. adenike phillips (she/her)
Poet, Chief Fire Stalker

a_edited.jpg

adenike describes herself as a poet although she has written other genres.   Over the years, her writing has mainly focussed on issues concerning people of color, women and other marginalized groups.   She continues to address these issues but has also incorporated a great deal of family history and personal struggles into her work.

adenike believes her background in theatre fuels her imagination while her education and work in the sciences help her to dissect ideas and concepts.   She is currently in the revision stages of her first chapbook and researching for a documentary poetics manuscript.

She believes the work of the artists is never complete as they must search for new ways to dismantle institutions & ideologies that are barriers to realizing our human potential.

She is an AWP member & participant in AWP's Writer-2-Writer (W2W) mentorship program (Season 17/2022).
